General Care

It is recommended that you visit your dentist every 6 months for a check up and clean. This is to ensure no new decay has eventuated. Early decay can be treated without drilling and filling particularly if you see your dentist every 6 months. Deeper decay can also be picked up early and treated to prevent the need for major dental work.

Six monthly check ups also help control the risk of gum disease. Even if your at-home oral hygiene is immaculate tartar build up is inevitable. If not removed by your dentist tartar can cause bleeding gums (gingivitis) which is an early form of gum disease.

6 monthly check ups also allows your dentist to monitor the growth and development of your children’s teeth. If there are any developmental delays or anomalies these can be picked up and attended to early to try to prevent major dental work later in life.
